I’ve teased and talked about a new series of articles where I actually interview people involved in politics in Russia who are in the patriotic camp before and I’m making good progress on that project now. My goal is to familiarize Westerners with these ideas because there is literally no other way that a Westerner would be acquainted with the views of this rather large and popular segment of the population otherwise. RT certainly won’t bring you this perspective from within Russia in the same way that CNN won’t ever show real American conservative perspectives on their network.
Sadly, literally no one with an administrative post or a presence on a state media project is willing to speak with me, even if I have a direct or second degree contact with them. In sharp contrast, soldiers who served on the frontlines, volunteers in Donbass and grassroots activists in Russia are very willing and excited by the opportunity to be seen and heard by like-minded Westerners.
Of course, people have the right to do their own thing and not give interviews to the English-speaking world. But these same people claim that this is exactly what they want to do and that Russia ought to start doing just that. I suppose they’d rather talk to Oliver Stone or Larry King (is he even alive, still?) than the “cultural underground” that Duma Senator Pushkov referenced in his speech.
So be it.
Frankly, by giving Russian populists who are not part of the government a voice and making their views the pre-eminent message sent out to the alternative news community in the West, I hope to give them a prestige boost. Should the Kremlins ever actually get serious about trying to find new friends in the West, they will find that Westerners are already familiar with the voices and opinions of Russian populists, who the Kremlin often ignores and thinks that they can do without at home. I hope to create a situation where the people in power will need to lean on an already established dialogue between conservatives/populists in the West and conservatives/populists in the East. This will give the patriotic movement in Russia a card to play when negotiating with the government in the near future.
The situation, as I see it unfolding in Russia, and based on the interviews I have already conducted and am in the process of preparing for circulation, is that of the Kremlin being forced to take a rightward turn and to appeal to feelings of national pride among the Russian people. So long as the conflict with the West continues, the Russian government will be forced to lean on and appeal to the patriotic peasantry more and more.
My friend often jokingly quips that when the aristocrats suddenly remember that they share the same blood as the peasants is when you know that the situation is dire indeed and I think he has a point.
Jokes aside, I’m like to ask you guys to help me out in this effort. Sharing and circulating these interviews serves everyone’s interests. On the one hand, Westerners will see a different face of Russia - a Christian, conservative and anti-Globalist perspective that will remind them that no Russian every called them “deplorable”. On the other hand, Russian populists might be exposed to the larger anti-globalist dialogue that is occurring in the West and this will serve to remind them that the Western peasantry and proletariat are not their enemies either.
I really hope that this new series of articles will foster a productive dialogue that we can all benefit from going forward. There’s a 1000+ subscribers on the blog now and the view count is 2-3x higher than that. When the articles are picked up by Occidental Observer and Unz, I think we’re reaching tens of thousands of eyeballs at that point.
If you’d like to support the effort, feel free to send some crypto. I don’t ask for much, and I do what I do because I believe in the mission first and foremost, but it’d be nice to get some support now and then too.
Stay tuned.
Looking forward to this, and also to more Marcion posts.
This sounds promising and exciting. I will happily share this.
