I believe you know about Surkov, Putin's Chechen propaganda master. He studied dramatic arts and took a liking to avant-garde theatre. He wrote plays. He brought the principles of avant-garde theatre to political propaganda : breaking the situation as commonly seen and understood in order to resew another from the pieces. He has had a good run in Russia.
He also took inspiration from Karl Rove's principle that one uses the media to create a new reality that is imposed to the public : the opponents need time to analyse and understand it and for a while the correct understanding will be only one of the readings en vogue among the opponents ; by the time the opponents coalesce on the correct understanding and formulate a counter-strategy, a new reality is created and the counter-attack founders.
The outcome of Surkov's methods is the disorientation of the masses and a sense of helplessness in face of absurdity. The dripping of coherent pieces with familiar themes, sovok themes, reassures the masses and wins a form of trust towards the master.
Zelensky was an actor in Russia prior to playing the president on Kholomoisky's TV. He is acquainted with Surkov and most probably knows about his methods. I believe that Zelensky decided to adopt a similar media strategy. Hence the travestite. Once the war is over and the conflict on the ownership of land starts, he will need all the tricks he can muster to abate the popular furore.
Surkov's work has been studied and appreciated in the West. He was invited to give talks in the UK. It is probable that his principles of breaking the reality and resewing it to create disorientation then recreation of partial coherence to foster trust have been adopted. Some of the propaganda during the covid pandemic appeared inspired by him.

I discovered Surkov in a BBC documentary called Hypernormalisation by Adam Curtis. Its only 2 min out of 2 hours but the documentary, albeit old, is worth watching.

Surkov published literary works under the pen-name Natan Dubovitsky; what a choice of Jewish-sounding name ! A noted short story : Bez Neba (without sky). A novel : Okolonolya. Edo Nyland wrote 2 very interesting books on pre-history: Linguistic Archeology and Odysseus and the Sea Peoples. The latter purports that Homer's wandering hero is better situated in the North Sea than the Mediterranean, a theme other alt-historians have picked up on.

Great article. Immediately, I’m reminded of Israel’s attempt to destroy and sink the USS Liberty in 1967, then blame, I think, Egypt. Even after later admitting the attack—stressing that it was “an accident,” there were no repercussions, nor did they pay any type of reparations to the families of the dead and soldiers who survived. Nothing. In fact, that same year, and every single year after, the United State’s government has increased aid to Israel, both cash and weapons, in which they use to spy on and run psyops games within the U.S., particularly election season to purchase politicians and policies via AIPAC.

Rolo have you ever been to Mamaev Kurgan? I don't consider myself an overly sentimental person but I literally choked up for the first time I went there. It's like a sudden emotional train wreck because you just went to take some pictures and see the sights but than it dawn's on you just what actually happened there. Mamaev would of course fall under leaving war monuments alone, but imo it's not just a matter of tolerating them out of politeness, such things really are sacred just by virtue of the oceans of blood shed there in defense of that soil.
