I tend to assume that a hot war between nuclear powers is not possible, I can be wrong, but Macron's declarations might be a sort of bluff so as to push the other countries to a compromise in which they would not send troops but more powerful weapons and funds to Ukraine.

Pardon me to differ, micron is a nobody and he has never tried to have good relations with Russia on the subject of Ukraine, it was only a posture 'he' adopted because of the industrial, financial interest (legitimate) of French corporation in Russia (think Renault, etc...). I don't know what you mean by French 'establishment'. US, UK (thru the Fabian Society) were the one hysterically anti-Russian or Anti-Poutine if you will (this last term being according to me propaganda, because we are really dealing with Russia, whose leader is mortal).
