I'm glad he addressed the demographic problem and support of social services as opposed to neo-liberal capitalist plundering because those are the most important things Russia needs to get right in order to win in the coming century.
It will help that Russia is so closely allied with China because China has figured out which services to bring into the public domain and which to leave laissez-faire. Russia and China's ability to fix their demographic problems will be the ultimate determinant for how things turn out.
In this era tech has a very specific meaning - IT - but the true definition is much broader. If Russia intends to colonize its inner frontier, I'd expect that will require a high degree of technological innovation involving far more than app development for iTrinkets. Otherwise, it would have happened long ago.
Overall this speech is typical Putin: clear, direct, forward-thinking, and honest. The man has vision and loves his country. That's why western elites hate him so much; his mere presence on the global stage condemns them by comparison.
Putin`s politics are virtually the same as mine but I do agree with Rolo about developing technology that doesn`t directly benefit the masses. If only we had leaders like that in the West , I am in the UK Clown World by the way , but we have the polar opposite .
“A holistic approach and a raising of the general quality of life through the use of best practices is the only way to address demographics.” > Did he really say best practices!?! Maybe he reads your Substack :)
Even translated into English Putin comes off as very articulate, clear thinking, and morally upright. Something that clearly sets him apart from western leaders.
Interesting that Putin apparently said nothing about mandatory vaccines. Similar pharma critters in Russia are trying to push the same clot shot narrative that we are suffering from in the West. That Alexander Ginsberg (sp?) character needs to be strapped to a rocket and blasted into space.
Bravo!! Reading Putin’s speeches is like drinking clean pure spring water. Especially compared to our own politicians’ speeches filled with cliches and sound bytes.
Not surprising as the west’s focus is politician-based while Putin is less a politician and more a statesman in the best sense of the word.
US politicians make my soul cringe while Putin’s speeches make my soul soar.
You probably already know this, but just in case you or any of your readers missed it — there was a trance channel medium, Edgar Cayce, who predicted back in around 1947 that “Russia will become the light of the world.” Cayce further added that he was not referring to the then current Soviet Union but to another form of government where the attitudes of the people were inspired and encouraged to live in harmony and serve each other and not just themselves or their own interests by way of profits as has been the focus in western capitalist economies.
Putin’s stated version sounds more like the early Christian principles of living virtuous lives which are strengthening to the individual, family, community heart, mind, body & soul and, by extension the entire nation.
Anyway, just an interesting point to ponder.
As for your own caveat about Putin stressing the need for more focus on building and supporting a larger technology based economy — yep. I agree. Frankly, I’d have thought that we in the west are the model for . . . “do NOT do this at home!!!”
More of an example of what to avoid than what to copy.
However, how that focus is implemented may be far different than how we in the west have done. Will be interesting to watch and see if Russia can avoid the pitfalls we’ve fallen into here. I do very much indeed hope so.
We were the beta test site of sorts. And the predators coopted and corrupted it all.
Remember the early days when it was more like the new frontier and exciting and free wheeling and inspiring and actually polite and courteous?
I do. Back in 1998 when I signed up for my first email account and AOL Online chat.
People bent over nearly backwards being extremely polite and had great attitudes and were helpful and courteous to each other.
Then “don’t be evil” Eric Schmidt’s Google arrived on the scene and it was all downhill from there.
I mean really.
Who would even say something so strange as, “don’t be evil” as a marketing promo?
Only someone who intends being as evil as possible imo.
But hey, that’s all water under the bridge now.
And the global warming issue is a yellow flag to me too. However, because of Russia’s nrg resources, the knock on effects of Putin spouting such nonsense is less catastrophic than say when the UK or Germany or other leaders of nations who must rely on nrg imports spout xtinction rebellion talking points..
I could easily be very wrong about that, however.
And regardless, I suspect once he stands aside and permits the Russian people to witness and observe the disastrous train wreck awaiting those nations who attempt to switch to undependable green nrg economies, he will then have not only empirical evidence to point to in real time, but the people themselves will need no convincing that to pursue the same policies when they can see with their own eyes the living proof that backs up Putin’s change of focus that following such an agenda would not be in Russia’s best interest to follow the western herd off the cliff and they will be more inclined to see that he is indeed correct - once again.
Sometimes I think Putin and Carlos Castaneda know each other because they both know how to use timing strategies to the best advantage and to only make their moves when those moves would produce the best results.
But I am high-octane speculating as Joseph Farrell calls it. 🙃
I, too, liked that he spoke about encouraging urban Russians to move into more rural larger family supporting communities and is sweetening the deal by improving the cultural appeal of smaller communities to city dwellers who have become accustomed to the many entertainment options available to them primarily only in larger urban areas.
Best of all in that respect is improving the public transportation connections and systems so that people who yearn for the fine arts like ballet, opera, museums, fine dining and seeing the beautiful architectural wonders - even huge popular sporting events which are mainly found only within the largest most cosmopolitan cities in any country can be easily accessed via comfortable inexpensive public transport. Family outings to see the city sights and Christmas and New Year lights. No one does Christmas and New Years like Russia’s cities. At least that’s my assessment from watching YouTube videos over the years of various cities around the world. They are absolutely magical. Far better than anything Disneyland could dream of imagining.
Regarding public transportation connecting both outlying areas as well as providing easy and inexpensive access to urban scapes from rural areas — I say that from personal experience.
Because once the BART train system was built in the San Francisco Bay Area, more people were willing to move outside the city limits where they could raise larger families and ride BART into the San Francisco Civic Center and walk only 2-3 short blocks to attend many attractions like symphonies, operas, art museums, city library, city hall, huge central park area, and attend many cultural events held in that park area.
And good connecting buses from all BART stations to other sections of the City for all the local summertime street and art faires.
Then they could pile onto the BART trains heading home and the festive atmosphere on the crowded trains were almost as much fun as the events themselves.
Sorry to run on and on here. Just projecting my own reservations about isolating in the countryside since I also tried that several times as well.
I think urban environments appeal more to those of us who never had any interest in family lifestyles.
Yet, I see no reason why even family oriented people should be restricted to the countrysides and outbacks if they’d also occasionally enjoy a day in the city.
And nothing wrong imo with exposing one’s children to city options in measured doses. Not every child wants to grow up, get married and have children. Even as a young girl I never felt drawn to that lifestyle. Sooo —maybe good that there are options and choices available for more than only one size fits all imo.
Sovereignty means that I have the freedom to exercise my free will to choose living in accordance with my nature and seek out lifestyles that more closely resonate with my unique frequency. As is true for all sovereign beings.
Other options I would choose would be a nunnery or joining a traveling troubadour group of entertainers who travel the countryside visiting small villages, towns and communities putting on plays, musicals, interactive family fun events where any and every one could participate if they so choose and for children if they had their parents’ permission.
Nope. No drag queens or sick stuff. Not down for that. Just good healthy wholesome fun and enjoyment.
Leave the families free to raise the children. Those who yearn for that option should be fully supported to do so. It’s in everyone’s best interests. I love babysitting other people’s children. I learn amazing things from their imaginations. They offer the most awesome answers to their own questions whenever I ask them what they think is the answer rather than immediately giving them my answer. Little lights that shine a pure true clear light upon our world. Bless ‘em. 🥰
Re Dario Salas/Baines and his book, “Does Woman Exist?”
I just now read the Product Description and book reviews on Amazon.
Last sentence of product description says . . .
“ The author encourages women to ready themselves to become the mothers of the world and the creators of change for all humanity. How many years must one wait for this to happen?”
Which sounds innocuous and reasonable enough if one doesn’t care to examine that statement too closely.
However, the reviews tell a more nuanced story.
And, one reviewer said,
“ how do I say it nicely... he has a low perspective of woman and after reading 3 of his books I am guessing he has / had mommy issues. He thinks all woman want to chop off men's penises ... yes he actually states that and actually uses "ALL."
Sounds like just the sort of book all women should read, yes?
So that we can discover what some men secretly think women think about men. Charming.
I’m sure most of us will be unsurprised.
I suspect this attitude is precisely why women rebelled in the first place. Who, with any healthy sense of dignity or self-respect wouldn’t?
Motherhood is only one of many choices available for women to choose — as a sovereign free-will being. It’s a very important choice and I say yay & hurray and fully support all women who do freely chose to do so. The world needs women who want to be mothers to be supported in that choice. We certainly don’t need women who do not wish to bear children to do so. We have seen how that turns out. And it is not a pretty sight imo.
Motherhood is a high calling and worthy of honor imo. I am grateful to and for those women who resonate with and answer that call. I honor my own mother for so doing as well.
Frankly, I think Putin and all sane Russians are doing the right thing in rejecting the feminist and LBGTQT corrupting influence and nonsense.
Good for them.
We’ve certainly witnessed here in the degenerate west what a mistake we’ve made in allowing this ideology to take root and metastasize like a cancer eating away at social norms and infecting our discourse.
Returning to Mr. Baines’ book asking if women exist —
Maybe Mr. Baines in particular and men in general should refrain from defining for women what it is to be a woman - or what it means to be a mother?
It’s not their call.
In fact it’s the height of arrogance, hubris and ego to think they are even capable of defining what it means to be a woman or a mother since no man IS or ever was or ever can be a woman or a mother.
Including, I might add, those men who now claim to identify as women. I’m specifically referring to the transgender idiocy running rampant in the collective west.
And no woman should be defining what it means to be a woman either. For the same reasons.
And men shouldn’t be defining what it means to be a man either. Again, for the same reasons.
How about each individual defining what it means to be themselves.
I can’t speak for other women.
You can’t speak for other men.
We can only speak for ourselves and what it means for me (or you) to be me (or what it means to be you in your case).
Why are people usurping others’ sovereignty by assuming they can speak for anyone other than themselves? Especially for whole groups of individual sovereign beings?
It’s not up to anyone to preach to others about how others should be and certainly not to tell others that they are only acceptable if they play a predefined “role” in life.
Thank heavens my own parents did not force their 5 children to imitate and copy their own choices.
This attitude is precisely why some women have rebelled. It’s similar to how NATO-US has treated Russia. And we can all see how that’s turned out.
And thank you for making me aware of Sr. Baines’ work.
Problem with most movements I’ve observed is that while they may initially be based on an accurately perceived injustice, over time they warp into dogmatic nonsense.
Referring to the feminist movement specifically.
I never felt inclined to join in — probably because I never actually felt oppressed by men or some patriarchy as so many of my friends did.
Maybe also because I refused to allow anyone— men, women, gods, bosses, employers, or petty tyrants for that matter to tyrannize or oppress me.
So I didn’t need the backing or approval of a group to strengthen my resolve or courage to refuse to be reasonable with evil.
I always got along with both men and women and basically didn’t I-dentify myself with any group — even if I could see their points of view.
Maybe my independent attitude reflects my mom’s attitude whenever I’d plead for her to allow me to “fill-in-the-blank” because my friends were doing it. And her reply was, “So if Jane chooses to jump off a bridge, does that mean you should too?”
It must seem like walking through a land mine for men these days when encountering postmodern bitches.
Actually, all my leftist progressive friends have banned me from their lives because I refused to bend the knee to their BS.
No worries. Too exhausting attempting to point out contradictions and hypocrisies and thinking errors.
Oh well. Adios & ciao.
My only experience with the militant brigades of women these days is via news stories and video clips illustrating their madness on steroids.
No wonder so many men are frustrated and lashing out.
I think there was even a book written years ago by Susan Faludi(?) called “Backlash” wherein she discussed the male backlash to the feminist movement.
Well duh. When anyone declares another (whether another individual or a group of individuals) their enemy, what would they expect to happen? Capitulation? Or retaliation?
Looks like the answer to that question has been answered quite obviously.
At any rate, no harm, no foul.
Would be helpful if both men and women could put themselves in the others’ shoes and make some attempt to imagine what it might be like to walk a mile in the other’s shoes. I imagine both sides could discover some empathy and compassion for the other’s point of view.
Not suggesting that men should put themselves in the shoes of militant feminists. More like putting themselves in the shoes of women they actually admire. Same for women; put ourselves in the shoes of men we admire. See how we’d feel from those points of view.
Same issue with the USA vis-a-vis Russia. The US’s refusal to even try to see anything from Russia’s point of view.
And the result in both cases is war.

And he realized that instead of “equality” that size relationship represented “balance”.
Which in turn made me realize that feminists should’ve asked for balance rather than equality.

Putin made an excellent speech to a largely receptive audience. You have captured the main highlights and provided some insightful comments. Putin outlined the conundrum that both Russia and the West find themselves in. He is aware of the demographic deficit. It is the problem for all advanced nations and as you correctly pointed out, the answer is not technology. The economic problems are human problems, the lack of people. The population level and its age composition among great nations is all skewed and this spells big, big trouble. Based on fertility and replacement level, most countries, except for African and Latin American nations, are dying nations. Europe, China, Japan,, UK, USA, Canada etc. lack adequate population bases. Russia too suffers from a similar problem. The many complex factors that have led to this sad situation are not easily explained but sufficient to say that they are not strictly economic in nature, but rather spiritual, cultural and indeed civilizational in nature.Globalism is not the solution. That is a sewer. But national sovereignty is a move in the right direction, if accompanied by a strong population base. A good place to start is pro-family, pro-natal policies. This may well mean placing restrictions on practices like abortion.
Putin has made many sound points and his relatively cautious approach is to be commended. The West would do well to heed his warnings and to begin reforming their own internal problems so full of inconsistencies. There is much more to digest and explicate in his speech.
I'm glad he addressed the demographic problem and support of social services as opposed to neo-liberal capitalist plundering because those are the most important things Russia needs to get right in order to win in the coming century.

That is a sewer. But national sovereignty is a move in the right direction, if accompanied by a strong population base. A good place to start is pro-family, pro-natal policies. This may well mean placing restrictions on practices like abortion.
