NATO Falls For Another One of Putin's Brilliant Geostrategic Traps!
Putin WANTS them to start bombing Russia! IDIOTS! Trap card ACTIVATE!
Many thought that the Not-War was nearing its end.
But if anything it seems like the conflict is only about to get more serious still.
Sure, Putin is talking about freezing the conflict and setting up DMZs, but NATO, in stark contrast, is talking about just openly bombing Russia now.
Here:
The Biden administration has quietly given Ukraine permission to strike inside Russia — solely near the area of Kharkiv — using U.S.-provided weapons, three U.S. officials and two other people familiar with the move said Thursday, a major reversal that will help Ukraine to better defend its second-largest city.
“The president recently directed his team to ensure that Ukraine is able to use U.S. weapons for counter-fire purposes in Kharkiv so Ukraine can hit back at Russian forces hitting them or preparing to hit them,” one of the U.S. officials said, adding that the policy of not allowing long-range strikes inside Russia “has not changed.”
Ukraine asked the U.S. to make this policy change only after Russia’s offensive on Kharkiv began this month, the official added. All the people were granted anonymity to discuss internal decisions that haven’t been announced.
In the last few days, the U.S. made the decision to allow Ukraine “flexibility” to defend itself from attacks on the border near Kharkiv, the second U.S. official said.
In effect, Ukraine can now use American-provided weapons, such as rockets and rocket launchers, to shoot down launched Russian missiles heading toward Kharkiv, at troops massing just over the Russian border near the city, or Russian bombers launching bombs toward Ukrainian territory. But the official said Ukraine cannot use those weapons to hit civilian infrastructure or launch long-range missiles, such as the Army Tactical Missile System, to hit military targets deep inside Russia.
It’s a stunning shift the administration initially said would escalate the war by more directly involving the U.S. in the fight. But worsening conditions for Ukraine on the battlefield –– namely Russia’s advances and improved position in Kharkiv –– led the president to change his mind.
The National Security Council did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The Biden administration hinted that a decision had either been secretly made or forthcoming in recent days. On Wednesday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who supports a restriction lift, became the first U.S. official to publicly hint that Biden may shift course and allow such strikes, telling reporters that U.S. policy toward Ukraine would evolve as needed. White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby later did not rule out a potential change.
Those messages came after top U.S. allies, such as the United Kingdom and France, said Ukraine should have the right to attack inside Russia using Western weapons. Lawmakers from both parties also supported the move publicly and privately, while top U.S. military officials briefed Congress behind closed doors that relaxing the restriction had “military value,” POLITICO first reported.
The Russian embassy in Washington did not respond to a request for comment.
Some officials are concerned that Ukraine, when it attacks inside Russia using its own drones, has hit military targets unrelated to Russia’s invasion. The U.S. has strongly delivered the message that Kyiv must use American weapons only to directly hit Russian military sites used for its invasion of Ukraine, but not civilian infrastructure.
Ukrainian officials, from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on down, have pushed for the Biden administration to change its policy ever since Russia launched a large assault on Kharkiv. For weeks they’ve said an inability to attack Russian troop positions over the border complicated Ukraine’s defense of Kharkiv and the country writ large.
In a discussion with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Wednesday, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov made a “hard push” to use U.S. weapons in Russia, according to a person with knowledge of the call.
These “revelations” and controlled information releases always lag far behind the reality of what is occurring on the ground. Like, this bit of news is supposed to imply that Ukraine wasn’t striking Russia prior to that. But that isn’t true. Ukraine has been hitting targets all over Russia with drone strikes and with sabotage ops for years now. In fact, they are making a big show of demonstrating just how far they can penetrate into Russia as we speak.
Now, you may notice that the red dot above is nowhere near Kharkov.
So why then is Biden/Politico acting like it is a big deal that Washington is giving their permission to hit targets in Belgorod? This isn’t even the first time that such rumors have been “leaked” before.
See what I mean?
And I’ve written extensively about just how many Russian depots and factories deep in the interior have been hit several times before.
Belgorod getting hit hard by Kiev is nothing new.
I suppose the “development” is that American bombs are now going to used whereas before it was Turkish drones being used and paid for with US money or something.
But these are silly differences that don’t really matter.
No, seriously, just because these governments pretend that they do doesn’t make it so. There is no “law” as such on the international level that they have to obey as if we were in a claims court in Virginia or something. These legal fig leafs are almost entirely ornamental. The real “rules” as such have nothing to do with established international conventions and treaties or whatever. But that is a topic for another post deconstructing Realism or one of the other geopolitical theories taught at universities.
The main development here is NATO saying that they’re going to start hitting Russian targets in Russia with their own long-range missiles, but having a Ukrainian citizen push the button.
The main point to understand here is that this situation is a result of Putin’s geopolitical “failures” as a leader and statesman. To be fair, this assumes that Putin and his cabal care about the nation-state concept and Russia, which I think is a stretch. It isn’t a failure when it is actually a deliberate policy of sabotage or treachery.
Regardless: the reason why we are at the point where NATO is talking about bombing Russia is because Putin HASN’T enforced any of the red lines that the Kremlin drew.
In fact, these latest statements by NATO actually PROVE what I have been saying for years now on this blog.
Putin has ENSURED further NATO escalation against Russia with his “moralitarian” 5D super-strategy.
In the real world, if you don’t demonstrate a capacity and willingness to hit your enemies back, you only embolden your enemies to bully you harder. “Morality” and “humanitarianism” have no place in geopolitics and only make the world a much more dangerous place because the threat of mutual destruction is the only thing that gets psychopathic elites to mellow out and at least follow some basic ground rules.
Short of a loaded gun to their temple, they will never act moral or out of a desire to do good for their own country, let along citizens of a foreign nation, EVER.
Thus, when a politician like Putin goes out of his way to constantly brag about how moral and good-hearted he is, you know that he’s either lying or facing a loaded gun to his temple and pretending that he’s voluntarily being moral, probably. NATO is making a case for why they are justified in striking Russia or rather letting Kiev strike Russia using NATO weapons and all we get is smug chuckling from ZAnon, who declared victory over NATO many months ago already.
Now, will this latest escalation finally be met with some resistance from Moscow?
Unlikely. Kiev already unleashed drones on the Rublevka fancy neighborhood where the politicians live in Moscow once and did not suffer consequences for that. You’d think that this would be an actual real red line, but apparently not.
The only problem is that I don’t fully understand what constitutes the “gun held to the temple of Putin’s head” though.
Let us explore the possibilities quickly.
Is it the fact that Putin knows that if he escalates too much, his own elite will topple him? That seems to be the conclusion drawn from Dr Livsci’s analysis. Basically, that if the profits stop flowing because of London and Washington’s personal grudge against Putin the elites will calculate that it is better to ditch him and put someone that the West likes better in charge who will also allow them to keep looting. Of course, the risk is that the West will start encroaching on their turf if they put a guy who is too complacent into power.
Decisions, decisions …
Or is it some sort of kompromat hanging over Putin’s head? The entirety of the Western elite is built on circles of elite pederasty dominating positions of political and financial power. But Putin has been rather consistently against that sort of thing. That is, he publicly counter-signals homosexuality. That being said, there are a lot of known homosexual elitists in his government, but I suppose that is to be expected everywhere now. Unless you explicitly bar them, they will rise to the top because they are uniquely capable at ascending power-hierarchies.
Finally, is it because he has reason to believe that he has friends in the West that he doesn’t want to scare off by escalating the conflict? The recent Tucker Carlson interview with Jeffrey Sachs, one of the main looters from the 90s who robbed Russia of generations of very hard-earned wealth, is proof of the existence of at least some minor faction in Washington that wants to keep Putin in power. Sacks, Carlson, Macgregor, Burns (maybe), Mearsheimer and some others. Sachs is a big Putinite, or rather Putin is a Sachsite. Jeff understands that Putin is the crowning achievement of his policies in the 90s.
These strike me as the most realistic options explaining Putin’s poor performance to consider.
All we know though is that Putin REFUSES to enforce red lines for some reason. The rest is speculation for now. Perhaps some new information will be leaked soon as the situation gets more dire for Russia and insiders try to pump the breaks again. Please try to resist the temptation to conclude that this is yet another brilliant strategic Putin-Jesus-General Winter-Mr. Kinzhal-Vodka-EXODIA OBLITERATE! trap that NATO just fell for.
The reason Putin wont enforce any redlines whatsoever is a combination of the 1st and 3rd options IMO. If the chief executives and share holders of Russia LLC become even more shut out of the globohomo financial/power sharing system because of escalation this means escalation paradoxically defeats the purpose for which the SNO was initially launched. When the SNO was launched the military aspect was absolutely minimized in favour of relying on spooks successfully bringing over key Ukrainian officials to Moscows side. Since the failure of this initial scheme the Kremlin has fought escalation in practice tooth and nail while paying lip service to redlines. In essence the SNO was a giant fucking bluff from Moscow to get a seat at the globohomo table and when the West called it the Kremlin was left in an intractable situation. Escalation makes getting a seat even more unlikely, doing nothing means any uncircumcised Kremlin LLC chief executives may end up getting the Saddam/Gaddafi/Milosevic treatment. This explains the 1st option and the 3rd is a bit more interesting imo.
Are these friends of the Kremlin in the West actually part of an anti Kremlin operation from Langley? Tucker, McGregor, Ritter are all spooks. Sachs is a big a swamp creature as they come. We tend to view them, especially Ritter as bought and paid for Kremlin assets but maybe someone like Tucker was commissioned by Langley to give the Kremlin false hope of soft defeat and good surrender terms? "You totally have some important and influential friends in the US Putler, don't do anything crazy while we openly start bombing the shit out of Russia lol". This would in essence be a repeat of the Kremlins miscalculation with Ukraine at the beginning of the SNO, totally overestimating just how many real friends in the Ukrainian power structure they had. In short the hard tangible reason Moscow doesn't enforce red lines is the 1st option and the 3rd option is how the Kremlinites cope and console themselves that there is still a way out.
Hi to everyone here....I have one question for you here - according to the western MSM, this verdict against Trump "accidentally" came just in time to fail to notice that Blinken, not Biden, admitted that American weapons were still being used to strike inside Russia. Of course, Putin has threatened the West for the thousandth time since the beginning of the SMO. And supposedly Sunak of Britain advised people to buy canned goods. Also, the attack on this German politician and policeman by an illegal....and many more "smaller" details in Europe and the rest of the Western world. Since the beginning of the year, I have a bad feeling that all this they are doing is a distraction to hide the real goal - which would be an attack on all of us - people. I think they don't attack each other, they attack us. That's what I mean. That's what all these big headlines are for - cheer for nukes, cheer for Putin, cheer for Trump....while they're nastily coming up behind us. I would love to be wrong - but I have a very bad feeling in my stomach these last few days. They show us in the Palestinians how it is done - how no one does anything while it is shown on the monitors in real time - the destruction of everything and the mass killing of people. I'm afraid of that. One more thing to add to this: the FED is over. The numbers that came out are devastating, it's a flood. Many bricks in the wall, and maybe I'm paranoid. So, please, tell me I'm wrong. God bless you all.
