Hear the surrender terms Putin's esteemed yiddish colleagues are trying to arrange for Russia, so Russia will be able to help them 'contain' China.

Thanks! 45 minutes with Edward Luttwak. I imagine opinions will differ widely on Luttwak here - or maybe not; maybe highly weighted. In any case, here are his recent essays - mostly on Ukr/Russia. https://unherd.com/author/edward-luttwak/ - he at least has interesting and highly individual takes - scroll down for his analysis of the siege of Kiev - 4 rows down: Why Putin’s invasion failed - get by the annoying "Putin"ization of everything - it's worthwhile.

Rusich is saying that MoD is happily ensuring the Wagner guys who signed up with them are killed.

https://t.me/dshrg2/1083

I hope Serb and his boys can get a contract with Belarussian MoD like Wagner did. Would be a huge bummer if they all got arrested or killed as well. To my knowledge only Rusich and the Espanola guys are still openly expressing sympathy for Wagner as far as units at the front are concerned. Will be very curious what happens to them. Seeing has how both Espanola and Rusich are led by 1488ers I can't see this ending well for them.

Simplicitus is unironically claiming that Shoigu is just purging corrupt dinosaurs from MoD. I don't think he even believes that and he knows he is lying outright. Shoigu couldn't have just done that a long time ago for some reason he had to wait until Prigozhin who is working for the CIA, MI6, SBU, Mosaad, CNN and CFR gave him a chance. Cleaning out Popov and keeping Simonyan and Nabiullina. Get er done Kremlin. Russia doesn't have a huge existential problem with pro Western oligarchs anymore but their is a problem with popular Generals nobody was complaining about. Tool bags like Simplicitus, and Serge etc never noticed these purged Generals causing a problem before but he knows exactly why they are getting the ax now.

But yeah now that Popov, Seliverstov, and Kravchuck, and soon Strelkov, and Black Colonel are out of the way expect good progress at the front. My inside sources which are the same ones Simplicitus used to confirm that Shoigu is purging corrupt dinosaurs have confirmed to me that the Russian troops at the front aren't worried about a lack of shells and effective counter battery capabilities but they were definitely crying themselves to sleep every night because Kravchuck discredited them. Now that he is facing prosecution they all feel a lot better and will fight even harder. Good things are coming. Slava Shoigu.

damn, now I do think they are being paid.

this is beyond simple misunderstanding of the situation or wishful thinking.

openly siding with purging Russia's military? i worried that we'd reach a point where the patriots ended up being rounded up and that ZAnon would cheer this on and here we are in the early days of this.

and theres literally no one out there sounding the alarm except myself and who else, PCR? Shamir had a good piece, but even he plays up the "patriots are still in control despite how bad it looks" line. At least he puts shoigu in the not-patriot camp.

When it comes to English language I think you are it. Riley is also invaluable but he is more or less covering a different area of expertise. Roberts is respectable and sincere but I don't think he actually realizes just how bad things are in Russia these days. That's understandable enough..As a rule for a Westerner to actually get the absolute state you need to meet 2 prerequisites. One needs to genuinely value truth and actively look for it, and one needs to have some kind actual connection to Russia and stake in it. There are exceptions that can skip #2 and just subscribe to your blog of course but the only Westerners who I can think of that weren't just selling BS and pre-date you reaching a respectable audience in the Russiasphere are Riley and Bentley, both of who seem to value honesty in itself and who have tangible connections to Russia and stake in her future.

There is literally no chance for a recognizable victory nor any Russian spring that can bare real fruit with the current power arrangements in Russia. So I think we are passed sounding the alarm, now it's more like ripping the curtain further and further back and come what may.

As for the Zanaons who peddle the equivalent of penthouse letters to hapless peasants you really think the Kremlin might be doing active measures? Whose silver pieces do you think they are taking?

the narrative that patriots in russia need to be jailed equally benefits the western spook apparatus and the russian one as well. they are both united in their anti-patriot agenda. both fear patriot voices becoming stronger as the result of all this

You catch this video?

Skip to like 3:38 and watch how the Wagner troops react to Utkin addressing them. That's not faked and they genuinely relate to him like Ceasars legionnaires related to Ceasar. This is why I really don't totally buy that Wagner was just spamming meat at the Ukrainians, the Wagner troops outright adore Utkin. Also compare their reaction to Prigozhin and their reaction to Utkin.. it's like they are cool with Prigozhin but Utkin is clearly perceived as the real boss.

Also around 4:33 "it's not the end it's only started, the biggest work in the world will be conducted very soon...and well welcome to hell".

What a boss.

Needles to say that kind of commander is the sort of person that the homos running Russia hate and are absolutely terrified of more than anything else.

What I understood from the war correspondents interview with Putin is that he fully understands that Shoigu is a rouge but he is powerless to do anything about him. So who can make the move against Shoigu and his cabal?

as i have always maintained, we need a military junta that is ready and willing to use nukes!

Expand full comment

Please do a Red List podcast about the probability of an open shooting war between Russia and USA/NATO, and the potential of nukes being involved. I am guessing that this is highly unlikely as long as Putin and friends are in power, so some sort of military coup would be a prerequisite. What faction(s) in Russia would be willing to use nukes? Patriots? Communists? I am also guessing that the mainland of the USA would not be spared as it was in WW1 and WW2.

I don't buy for one moment that Putin can't fire Shoigu. He could at any time. Sure some of the oligarchs and liberals would whine about it but what public support would they have ? Zero. So why doesn't he fire him - he's buggering up the military as hard as he can and if the military collapse and lose the war disastrously - something that is not at all impossible - Putin will be done for. Frankly I wouldn't grieve if they hanged him. So why? Here's my hypothesis. Putin has no balls. He's a weak and fearful man. He fears the virus, he fears assassination, he probably fears his own military most of all. He fears that if he appointed a competent patriotic person in Shoigu's place, the result would be a reformed patriotic military that might overthrow him. So he keeps Shoigu on as a way of rendering the military impotent. And Shoigu is no threat in that respect as the ordinary soldiers would never go along with a liberal Shoigu lead coup, no matter what the officer class told them. Only problem of course is that an impotent and incompetent military might lose the war in Ukraine. But for Putin the more immediate fear is still a military coup - and the support and sympathy Wagner were getting would have magnified that a thousand fold.

Look Putin has been there so long and has so much general public support (which might be more because any alternative would be much worse) that he could do virtually anything he wanted and get away with it. He could fire everyone and establish a strongman (emergency use excuse) government in which he knocked the country and army into shape any day ----- if he had the balls. That's the problem - he has no balls - he's a weak, fearful, timid man. Well maybe that's why Yeltsin picked him. The real pity is at the beginning he showed a little bit of guts kicking out the oligarchs he didn't like.- but that was it - and even that was probably because of the prodding of other oligarchs. What ever he ever had down there has long ago withered and atrophied, and fallen off.

My goodness! Russia has again been deceived by it's esteemed Turkish partner; how could that have happened? Which crooked oligarchs in Russia and Turkey are benefiting from this?

'The irony for Russia, and a reason for much anger in the Kremlin, Setser notes, is the rumor that Putin has been providing Russian gas to Erdogan on credit, and not demanding that the state gas importer pay up. Putin's largesse has been flowing as Ergodan has been selling drones to Ukraine for use in its war against Russia. Turkey has also permitted Ukraine to ship its crops through the Black Sea.

All of this European political and economic double dealing was done openly and in plain sight. Duplicity comes much differently in the United States.'

Wheat irritates me about Russia and its patriots, is what the hell are these guys doing politically apart from sitting on their butts blogging away? Where is their organization, their party, their cadres working to get the message across to the population, going into other organizations and pushing their message, and taking them over? The communists did it - they leave the perfect playbook on how to gain power. You, Rolo, may vilify them all the time but these guys had guts, they knew how to organize, and how to fight. Often their parties started as tiny persecuted organizations, but they didn't give up, they fought and grew and like the Bolsheviks sometimes won. So, the patriots in Russia, what the fuck are they doing politically today? Wagner showed with a couple of tanks and a few thousand men what might be possible. If Wagner had gone all the way pushing matters to a head, anything might have happened. So why don't guys like you stop crapping on the communists and take a lesson from them - you might just accomplish something apart from spouting verbiage that hardly anyone reads.
