More than a month ago, I decided to stand up against an injustice that grieved me deeply and that I could no longer abide by in good consciousness. What was transpiring was yet another crime against humanity and yet it was occurring in silence as the entire Substack community watched, but looked the other way. It took a lot of personal courage for me to come forward and face my abusers. I found strength in knowing that what I was doing wasn’t for me, but that it was for all writers everywhere suffering under the same yoke.
There is no easy way to say this, folks. Our casual readers are simply not supporting us financially at the level that some of us deserve. Yes, I know. It is still hard for me to believe even now as well.
Now this, both legally and morally-speaking, is technically classified as rape by the Hague. The fact that I am severely underpaid is a heinous crime that I think nobody can, in good consciousness, deny. But I don’t want to relive the feeling of revulsion that I’ve been feeling at the defilement of my blog by callous, cruel, casual readers today.
I covered it all last time in my heart-felt plea, which you can go back and read to learn about me and my struggle.
Today I don’t want to point any fingers, but instead to raise my fist in defiance and in solidarity with my fellow writers!
I am once again calling for a general writers strike to protest an ungrateful readership!!
All you have to do to participate is like my post, repost it and then simply not write until the strike is over!!!
I say WRITE, you say POWER: write POWER! write POWER! write POWER!
Now, some people have taken to calling me a hero, and I accept that and I agree with that categorization of myself. The fact is that I will go down in history as the first Substacker who called for a Substack writers’ general strike against the ungrateful casual readers back in January of this year. However, I will not be the last.
Our first strike ended up being a modest success (for me) as I gained 10 paid subs after shaking down the readers demanding restitution for the crimes against me and the blog. Unfortunately, and against my better judgement, I then decided to give the readers one last chance and continue writing open, free articles because I believed that the recent news about negotiations and Strelkov’s arrest was in the public interest.
Surely, this act of selfless good citizenry would be appreciated, I thought.
But I was wrong. I was terribly wrong again. I had forgotten just how shameless and greedy the casual reader is. My heart is just too pure to believe that such free-loaders could even exist. I struggle to believe it. I don’t want to believe it. I cried out to the heavens and then I began to doubt God.
…
This is the second general Substack writers’ strike. I am going to go on an even longer content strike. If you see other writers not writing during this period, it is because they are participating in the strike with me. And, yes, it will be hard-going … but not writing free content is a sacrifice I am willing to make for other struggling writers everywhere.
As a matter of fact, there are about 200 new readers who have joined since then and vanishingly few of them have subscribed over the last 2 months. Which begs the question:
How is this even legal?
I should be able to take non-paying readers to the ICC for their grotesque crimes against myself and my fellow writers. Where is the justice in this world? As I have explained before, reading my content for free is literally thievery. You are engaging in theft, casual reader. And you know it now.
REPENT:
I only hope that more of my fellow writers will join me in the general strike this time.
The only thing that you have to lose are your chains, my comrades.
We must seize the subscriptions by any means possible. The tight-fisted readers are greedy. They are oh so very greedy. They hoard and hide the money that they know they owe us. It belongs to us, not them! Only with threats and intimidation will we ever coerce them into supporting alternative media. Most of them still send money to giant media corporations and buy up Alex Jones’ penis pills. They know he lies to them, but they don’t care! They just feel obligated to give their overlords and charlatans money. It is a moral imperative for them!
It’s true. Sad but true.
But, bad taste has to be called out and resisted and eventually forced to surrender. The masses have to be taught to appreciate us at the point of a sharpened no.2 pencil held to the throat.
I don’t like it, but I at least have the courage to stand up to this injustice.
And now tell me something: do you have the courage to stand up for what is right, casual reader? If so, go ahead and sign up for a paid sub right now. My demands are 10 more paid subscribers or else. This is a threat.
Don’t let dignity die in darkness.
Don’t let these free-loading FASCISTS win.
Another money drive I see, lol
Great timing going on strike right before the Putin Carlson interview.
