Thanks for not inflicting "the talk" upon us, it makes the article actually readable.
Minor nitpick, you say the Russians lose as many men as the Ukrainians but it seems an exaggeration. Of course I don't have the real numbers, but looking at both propaganda material it seems the Russians are in a better shape than the Ukrainians.
While I don't disagree with you on the whole situation, I'll make a definitive judgement once the not-war has ended. My benchmark: if the Russians don't get Kharkov and a land bridge to Transnistria (thus including Odessa) then it will definitively be a total defeat.
There's too much disinfo nowadays, you can't judge by what is said or not said or interpretations but on the cold hard facts on the ground.
Are you of the opinion Russia/Putin may in any way be amenable to "abandoning the demand for a neutral status of Ukraine and the demand for Kiev not to join NATO?"
i think ukraine is a kind of link to the west for russia. when they say 'neutrality' they mean west-aligned and west-depended and west-financed, but also with room for moscow at the table.
russia wants to be part of all the globalist organizations, including nato and the eu.
they were hoping that ukraine would get them in. they are for ukraine joining if it means that russia can tag along as well.
I agree with you. And frankly, historically (other than during the Soviet years) there has never been a good reason for Russia to be separated from Europe. England, Germany and France sat at the "cool table," but they read Dostoevsky and listened to Tchaikovsky - so much of history is petty. Frankly, and only a wee bit tongue-in-cheek, Russia could have neutralized NATO in the 90's just by asking to JOIN the damn thing. Cheers.
The leader of Z-Anon is ... Zorobabel. He is filling up the brains of people with rubbish before making it obvious that those minds need a good clean-up, a wash actually. The people will happily agree to it.
I sincerely do not know what to make of the rumours of peace negotiations. Negotiations happen all the time behind closed doors. It makes sense that some have taken place at Davos and that Zelensky's men have tried to gather international support of whatever kind. Nothing surprising.
Comparing the not-war with the civil wars in Syria or Libya, one can see what negotiations achieved : temporary cease-fires, evacuation of civilians, prisoner exchanges, stabilisation of font lines, agreement on targets (some factories were off-limits), food deliveries, funds freezing or unfreezing in foreign banks, etc. Obviously no final settlement to the conflict. This should set the expectation for diplomatic negotiations about Ukraine.
Liking the Calvin and Hobbes theme today

Russia did want to join NATO but somehow it didn’t happen.
Hi Rurik,
