Putins yammering about how Ukraine totally has every right to exist and is a totally real country and he only wants them to respect Russia should apply to....well every country in the world trying to destroy Russia shouldn't it? The same could be said about the US, Poland, etc etc right? Furthermore more isnt Putin contradicting himself when he correctly said over a year ago that the Bolsheviks created modern Ukraine? There's more to the story than that. If you sat next to a block of U-238, you probably wouldn't get radiation burns or even damage. U238 has a half-life of 4 billion years ! That mean it takes 4 billion years for half of the U238 atoms to decay and emit radiation. U238 is essentially not radioactive. It is used for shells because it is very dense. That is all ! The thousands of tons of lead scattered across Ukraine now is far more toxic. Please talk to someone who has a degree in Physics.
I can't find it now, but on the Military Summary Channel there was a short report on Putin's address and in one part of it, he essentially said that some of his Generals are shit (he used a term 'parquet people'?). Anyway, that is always true, everywhere, but it's interesting that he actually said it. If you have a long period of peace, the generals are good ass-kissers, that is all. There's more to the story than that. If you sat next to a block of U-238, you probably wouldn't get radiation burns or even damage. But used as shells, the stuff becomes a fine power breathed into the lungs. You don't have the benefits of a protective skin. Besides that, the properties of the metal itself may be toxic or carcinogenic. Again, it's dispersed as a fine dust which is the most likely to penetrate body defenses.

My worry is bio-uptake in the world's bread basket. Ionizing radiation is still there even if its at a fairly miniscule level but how capable are wheat plants in reducing the genetic damage? How reactive is U238? Lead behaves itself so long as certain metals and water are not present. Damn all of those battlefields being turned into monuments instead of the farmland that they were. This is actually my #1 concern about Russia. However lousy a ruler Putin might be, there are many chances his succesor be worse. I'd be interested in knowing what president can Russians realistically expect to get instead of him. I mean, where is the skilled, honest, patriotic, incorruptible, reliable, no-WEF-nonsense man to succeed him for the better? I sincerely hope there is such a person, but I would not bet a dime on any reasonable improvement for Russia after Putin's eventual demise.
