The difference between Ukraine and Russia is that Ukraine will stop attacking if there is no breakthrough, while Russia just sends men again and again to try to force a breakthrough. Push back Ukraine in Kursk using Russians, if that does not work send in Akhmat if they fail just round up 10.000 North Koreans and send them. And the results are the same.

The war pure theater at this point, Ukraine is stagnating and pulling crazy moves because they lost their demented movie director. Trumps unpredictability is a factor here and maybe a deal has already been agreed upon.

In this link there is a picture of Gerasimov with Shoigu behind him shaking hands and grinning while taking orders from the British elites or crown. Mind you this was just before the bumbling invasion of Ukraine. Just notice the smirks and eyes of all those people in the picture, its telling.

Great point with that pic: the guys show their real emotions (as "old buddies" I would say). With covid the issue was similar so some knew from the start , foul play and much $$ was involved.

I doubt that any deal has been made. No one would make a deal at this point without Trump's full concurrence. And Trump will likely not bargain seriously before being inaugurated because he doesn't yet have control of his resources. Also, there is a US statute preventing a private US citizen from negotiating on his own with a foreign country. I doubt Trump would want to expose himself in that manner.

Trump has made it obvious he is going to be a bulldozer for US interests. He is not going to pull Russia's chestnuts out of the fire unless the Russian government stands up for itself.

Trump is irrelevant, the plans were laid down long ago.

Trump just shared a clip of Jeffrey Sachs blaming Obama and the CIA for trying to overthrow Assad and then Sachs proceeds to blame the 2003 war in Iraq on Netanyahu, I don't know if Trump just watched the first minute and wanted to dunk on Obama and stopped there that sounds exactly like what Trump would do) or saw the whole 2 minutes and has a real beef with Netanyahu, it's another case of "I don't know who's Jewing who anymore".

My impression is that Trump is genuinely protective of US interests and that he values stability. The overthrow of Assad and Syria throws the whole region into chaos and is decidedly not in US interests, although it may benefit some large corporations. Incidentally, I would put money on the assertion that Trump has dyslexia and hates reading, so he gets all his information from broadcasts, videos and personal briefings. Some people mistake his reluctance to deal with the written word as low intelligence; Trump is highly intelligent.

The US was moving troops into Syria right before Assad's removal. They also attacked Syrian and Iranian reinforcements who tried to stop the head choppers. Sure sounds like US interests at work.

I obviously was not clear about my opinion that real US interests, and the interests of the people of the Deep State and the military industrial oligarchs are not the same. Yes, the spooks and the drones of the Biden administration facilitated the Syrian collapse. It will reap windfall profits to the spooks and fascists and is still not in the interests of the US citizens as a whole.

" is still not in the interests of the US citizens as a whole. "

Fair enough, in fact, that describes 99% of the US governments actions.

I should point out that this is a major theme in many of Rurik's posts: that the US spook state does not represent the interests of the citizens.

Not just that, the whole ruling structures of the world. Qaddafi probably was an exception to that, but even he made the mistake of getting involved in "politics" instead of just focusing on lifting up his people.

Seems plausible.

Hint: Assad is probably dead.

I dont think this will be wrapped up as nicely as it seems. This could be Trump preparing to play hard ball later on in the " negotiations" , but what if Russia doesnt fold ? I dont think the US would pack up all this gear and run home.
