If NATO is a true friend of Ukraine they should have been able to fire into Russia at will , fighting with one hand tied behind their backs is stupid and counter productive. As for the territories only Russia claims them as part of Russia , the international community does not , only North Korea has recognised it as far as I know ,so how does Russia deal with that? Also the escalation has come from Putin with the introduction of North Korean troops into Europe , does he expect NATO to just forget about that , pretend it is not happening? Putin has fucked up big time and his only hope is Trump saving him. Trump will still make demands I don't expect he will just kneel for Putin and it is too late to think of turning Russia into an ally from China. So the war will go on and possibly Trump will need to escalate also if Putin will not surrender some of the terrirory which has been taken illegally anyway.

Realistically what can Putin do? Fight a war with the whole of Europe? Stalin barely beat Hitler. Putin certainly won't be beating Poland, who has the largest *active* army in Europe, and naturally this time Russia doesn't have total Global Support, they have North Koreans... who are an average Height of 5'8.

The whole thing is perplexing, the US gives permission for Ukraine to use its 30-year-old military surplus ATACMS missiles - once destined for the scrapyard - to hit targets at its maximum range of 300 km. Big deal - when Ukraine has its own drones and missiles which routinely hit targets at much farther ranges - including St Petersburg, Murmansk - north of Moscow, Izhevsk, Kazan, and places in Siberia. It seems like a distraction, a chance for Mr Putin to be Tough In Public, to justify his continued presence ... keeping public attention away from that anomalous and unmolested Gazprom pipeline running across Ukraine, for which Mr Putin pays Mr Zelenskyy in excess of $1 billion USD per year... and other such anomalies.
