You need to write something that strikes a nerve....then you will get feedback / good or bad it is still feedback....start writing and never stop...

They sound fascinating, especially Gumilev. Post them here. You'll get some feedback.

You should contact Mark Granza who runs the Im1776 project and also lomez (all have Twitter sites)-they put out incredible stuff and are getting deep into publishing. Hope it works out!

I wrote to Mark, but who is Lomez?

He also has a Twitter feed and just had a Passage Prize contest for original works. If I read correctly, he is now starting a Passage publishing company. The Twitter address is @L0m3z. Keep us posted. I'm enjoying your Substack-I am an unashamed Russophile and Putin groupie, even though he looks more like a hamster than a fox now.

I'm waiting for Elon to open the floodgates before re-starting my Twitter posting career.

Maybe try your hand at submitting your stories to the Bizarchives, Cirsova, and Storyhack? Those mags look like the sort to appreciate your storytelling.

Reached out to Biz, haven't heard of the other two, thanks for the lead.

Man, you know my answer. But I wouldn't do it on Substack. Or like, if you do, throw that shit behind a paywall.

Respectfully. The subjects are (deliberately?) a bit too arcane. Two axioms for writing. "Keep it simple, stupid." And, "Write what you know." You clearly enjoy writing, write away - but don't lose your audience.

I don't plan on no longer writing about eastern europe. That's my bread and butter. All the topics are related to the metaphysics of race, so though they seem arcane, I think they're all inexorably linked.

I'm sure you're right, but you'll have to make it entertaining, informative and easy to understand.

Arcane? NO! Well, I guess there is a point. I suppose according to the western mercenary-cultural ideal, one should write best-sellers on any topic that appeals to the largest possible audience, buy a dacha on Crimea, and semi-retire. But the originality of thought here is like a fresh zephyr from an open window blowing dust off furnishings of a long-shuttered house. To a westerner, at least.

I'd never heard of Gumilev, for instance, and here I'm introduced to a historian who writes about tartars, mongols and jews, with perspective on climate effects thrown in. You may call these topics arcane, but I'd categorize them more as inexcusably neglected. IMHO, the historical function of the slavic people generally was as a bulwark to protect western Europe from depredations of these groups so the west would be free to devlelop relatively uninterrupted, thus acquiring bragging rights as to how advanced they are. Perhaps. But let's have more adult discussions in addition to the more commonplace and entertaining fairy tales.

On the other hand, maybe I’m misreading Rolo's inclinations, and that he SHOULD cultivate the advice of the popularizers ;--)
