I had a talk with Guido Preparata recently who makes that claim, but he struck me as an extreme ideological leftist who can't be trusted to be honest on this topic. This is because Hitler said some things about race in his book and so he cannot be treated fairly as an object of historical inquiry, in the Leftist's mind.

There are other conspiracies that allege that he was working for the British by proxy when he was hired by the Bavarian? police to spy on political groups. I realise my question above could be seen as somewhat trivial and obscure given the context and historical gravity of this discussion but I think how Hitler is depicted in culture, both past and present is always worth noting.
This scene and the depiction of Hitler would never be found in a "Western" made film. Maybe only a Russian film would have this. There is more going on in this depiction than just some big bad wolf cartoon character huffing and puffing in order to scare the kids.
In regards to whether he was controlled opposition or not I think it comes down to what people want to believe because the historical figure of A.H. has pretty much now become deified as either Diablo or some volkisch Messiah.

David Irving is the only man who has studied all the documentation that exists about Hitler and wrote "Hitler's War." Of all the WWII historians, apparently Irving is the only one who was fluent in German, learning of the Dresden genocide from a German with whom Irving hot bunked in a German steel mill. I could sing or build bridges and roads for eternity and enjoy it, but I cannot imagine what would be productive labor in the heavenly realm.

The difference between core and peripheral in the Wallenstein lexicon is pretty much reflected in the Free Trade vs. Protectionist lexicon in the Chung/Carey lexicon.
